DYNDNS via dyn.schlittermann.de

The zone dyn.schlittermann.de allows unrestricted updates via the DNS update protocol. This service is free, without any guaranteed service availability.

Installation

Either use the Debian package or

  1. Install nsupdate (Debian: package bind9-dnsutils)

  2. Run make install

  3. Install the files of this repo as follows:

    File Destination Remarks
    dyndns-update.default /etc/default/dyndns-update edit!
    debian/*.service /etc/systemd/system/ edit!
    debian/*.timer /etc/systemd/system/

  4. Now enable and start the units:

    systemctl enable --now dyn.schlittermann.de.{service,timer}

  5. Check the DNS (use dig or nslookup) to verify if your name is set in dyn.schlittermann.de as expected.
